Key terms explained
These are the words CashSouk uses for facilities, invoices, notes, cash and the references you quote to support.
Financing records
Facility
An approved financing limit for an issuer. After approval, the issuer can usually finance further invoices under that limit, subject to the terms shown in the portal.
Drawdown
Financing an invoice under an approved facility, rather than applying for a new facility.
Invoice
A request for payment the issuer has issued to its customer. CashSouk financing is tied to an approved invoice.
Note
The financing opportunity listed for investors. Each note is linked to an approved invoice.
Paymaster
The issuer’s customer responsible for paying the invoice. The issuer can also pay on the paymaster’s behalf and report that payment in the portal.
Tenure
How long the financing runs. Tenure is normally counted from disbursement, not from the application date. The portal shows the tenure that applies to your record.
Listing window
The period a note is open for investment. A listing closes when it is fully allocated or when the deadline shown on the listing is reached.
Minimum funding threshold
The funding level a listing must reach by the deadline for funding to succeed. If the threshold is reached at the deadline, funding can succeed. If it is not, reserved cash is released and the listing does not proceed to disbursement. The listing shows the threshold that applies.
Money
Available cash
Investor cash that is not reserved or invested. Withdrawals cannot exceed available cash.
Reserved
Cash committed to a listing but not yet confirmed as an active investment. Confirming an investment reserves cash. If funding is unsuccessful, reserved cash is released back to available cash.
Disbursement
Money paid to the issuer after successful funding and the required checks. An unsuccessful listing does not proceed to disbursement. A trustee is instructed to make this payout.
Settlement
The end of a note after repayment is allocated. Settlement returns principal plus net profit and any applicable Ta'widh to investors. The service fee is taken from gross profit, not principal.
Profit
The investor’s earnings from a note. CashSouk does not call this interest.
Service fee
A fee deducted from the investor’s gross profit at settlement. It is not taken from principal. The terms on the note and in your legal documents set out how fees apply.
Residual
Money remaining after investors, fees and applicable charges are allocated. Residual payout states you may see include Awaiting disbursement, Payout in progress, Payout with trustee and Paid.
Trustee
The independent party instructed to make relevant payouts, including issuer disbursement and settlement payouts.
Late-payment terms
Ta'widh
Late-payment compensation. Where it applies, it can be included in settlement for investors. The financing terms govern when it applies.
Gharamah
A late-payment penalty handled under the financing terms. It is separate from Ta'widh.
Shariah principle named on notes
Bai' Al-Dayn Bi Al-Sila'
The Shariah principle named on the note prospectus. The prospectus and the legal documents you accept set out the terms that apply to you.
References you can quote
CashSouk gives each record a short reference. Quote these when you use chat or email support.
- APP- — a financing application
- CON- — a facility or contract
- INV- — an invoice
- NOTE- — a note
- WDL- — a withdrawal
An invoice number on the customer’s bill is not the same as the CashSouk INV- reference. Use the CashSouk reference shown in the portal.
Common questions
Why do I see two invoice numbers?
The paymaster’s invoice has its own business number. CashSouk also assigns an INV- reference. Support needs the CashSouk reference.
What is the difference between reserved and invested?
Reserved cash is committed to a listing that has not finished funding. After funding succeeds, that cash becomes a confirmed investment. On Portfolio, the Invested total includes both reserved and confirmed amounts.
When does tenure start?
Tenure is normally counted from disbursement. The dates on your note and facility in the portal govern.
Who is the trustee?
The trustee is the independent party instructed to pay the issuer after funding and to make relevant settlement payouts. You do not instruct the trustee yourself.
